Indian bride calls off wedding after groom fails to book AC room

As the intense heatwave continues to grip North India, an unusual incident unfolded in Agra’s Shamshabad area, where a bride called off her wedding over the absence of air-conditioning (AC) at the venue.

According to The Print, the bride reportedly felt unwell due to the extreme heat and requested an air-conditioned room. When the groom allegedly refused, tensions flared between the two families. Matters took a turn for the worse when, during the ensuing argument, the groom reportedly used abusive language toward the bride and her relatives.

Deeply offended, the bride decided to cancel the marriage just hours before the ceremonies were to begin.

“If they can’t accommodate a basic necessity like this, and the groom behaves so disrespectfully even before the marriage, how life will be after that?” the bride is said to have told police at the scene.

Although officers attempted to mediate and salvage the situation, the bride remained firm in her choice and left the venue with her family later that evening.

The matter escalated further as the bride’s family filed a police complaint against the groom’s side, accusing them of pressuring for dowry in the form of cash and luxury gifts. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is currently underway.

A family member of the bride said that after all reconciliation efforts failed, they decided to reimburse the groom’s family for any expenses incurred.

“The real issue was not just the lack of an AC room, but the insults hurled at our family. After that, there was no turning back,” the relative stated.
